FALL FOLIAGE DRIVES IN NORTHWEST CONNECTICUT
10.4.07
Salisbury’s OCTOBERFEST weekend is upon us and it should be a great weekend to meander around the Village and our area roads.
Have fun.
Favorite drives of mine, to view the Fall foliage are the following:
North up Route 22 from Millerton to Hillsdale, then East on Route 23 to Route 41 South back to Salisbury; or you can reverse it.
Route 41 from Lakeville to Hotchkiss School; left onto Route 112 to Route 7 North (or South along the Housatonic River), to Route 63 South; then at the circle in Goshen, take Route 4 East and follow signs to West Cornwall’s covered bridge, passing through it to Route 7, going North more or less back to wherever else you might wish to go.
For those with a more rugged vehicle, an interesting mountain top drive for those with plenty of time, is one that starts at the Town Hall in Salisbury, taking Factory Street up from town following signs to Mt Riga, staying right at the lake’s dam and proceeding Northward along a fairly rugged natural road for several miles into the Town (Hamlet) of Mt Washington Mass. The road has become paved again and you have a couple of interesting choices: go down into South Egremont and intersect with Trip #1’s path; or follow signs Westward down past Bash Bish Falls State Park into Copake, NY, then onto Route 22 South to Millerton NY. Much of the beginning of this trip is over an unpaved, irregular gravel based road, and you must travel it slowly.
07.17.08 IS CURRENT PRICING, CORRECT PRICING?
The ever changing real estate market has not been kind to many sellers over the past several months and weeks.
06.05.08 NOTES FOR THE MONTH
Costs are going up for home operation at all levels; it will be interesting to see what heating oil, propane, and electric pricing will be for this coming heating season.
