NW CORNER MARKET-DEFINITELY BETTER
11.29.07
Following on the heels of last week"s column, I am happy to report that the market around here definitely has improved since the middle of October. Action in looking has perked up considerably; several properties have gone, or are going to Contract, and there is a far more positive feel in the air amongst agents and therefore, (some) lucky sellers.
It would appear, at least to me, that the existing activity serves as yet more proof that this NW corner, as well as the Southern Berkshires section, remains an thoroughly desirable place to live in, and own real estate. Some buyers, who have lived away from here for some time, are returning; others, who have rented, are now buying; and still another group, those who have been looking at several different areas, are picking this area to finally make a purchase.
Of course, pricing of the purchases is a helpful factor for some of the pending transactions. There are some very good buys available at the moment; while they may not precisely fit a buyer's intended "target", the good buys are "good" enough to lure a purchaser who might have been looking for something else, quite different. It is part of what makes the real estate market so interesting.
On a final note, if no one has yet heard a radio show called Car Keys, at some point if you are in this neck of the woods, you might eventually hear it. On it, I discuss various aspects of the car business. Currently it is only available on AM 1020 WHDD radio or via podcast, airing on the radio on weekends. It will likely be on FM radio in the near future.
