MEET PETER HOUGHTON

6.22.09

Peter Houghton recently moved south of the Mass line, with his family, to join us living in our great Town of Salisbury. His past life has included the building of homes in Santa Fe, New Mexico, exploring the California coast by sailboat, and helping rebuild one of the first private hydro electric power plants to sell electricity into the "grid". He also has had a life-long interest, and career in building wooden boats, including a current project of his: the restoration of a 1938 ELCO 48', Flat Top boat at his boat yard that he co-owns on the Hudson River in Athens, New York.

He is an Andover graduate and went to college and graduate school in Cambridge.

When interviewing him for my office, I found that he brings excellent insight on, and knowledge in a wide variety of topics, including house construction and building, and excellent "people communication skills". Along with Carol Staats, he too brings a high level of energy and competence, to handle all aspects of real estate that I offer clients of my office.

Anyone who connects with my office will find knowledge and competence that transcends the "pitched" promotions found in many other places.

Next week: (Some) Oil Contracts are out-early!

OIL REVISITED
Some of our heating oil vendors have been holding off on setting Contract pricing for heating oil prices, hoping the barrel price would be coming down.

QUIET AS A COFFIN?
The above was the description of the activity (on his home) given to me by a home owner with a house for sale in Stamford, CT.

THE PROBLEM WITH GREEN: AESTHETICS
The question of aesthetics may come into focus if building green becomes the norm for future homes.

WEATHER TURBULENCE REIGNS
Storms have been playing havoc causing power interruptions, fallen trees, and broken branches around the NW corner.

FANS AND LAWNS
The lack of rain made many lawns turn brown. They are not really dead in most cases, despite their appearance.

PRICE CONCESSIONS - MOVING REAL ESTATE
Seller price concessions, if and when 'blessed' with an offer, are helping move most of the sales currently in contract, or recently closed, for homes in this price grouping.

HOT WEATHER COOLING TIPS
With the arrival of hot, sticky weather arriving in our NW corner, cooling tips are in order for those not lucky enough to have air-conditioning, either centrally installed, or from window units.
