WHAT'S IN THE NAME? - NOT FOOD, BUT...
08.06.09
...behind their names, food is what they are all about. THEY are JAM and WHEN PIGS FLY. These are 2 specialty food businesses you should know all about, and both are located near, but off the main Street of Sharon. The food and taste sensations, in their foods, are just what many of you will love, when you are eating on the run, or for take-out fare at home.
WHEN PIGS FLY, located on West Main Street, is a tiny spot featuring BIG Southern Barbecue treats along with other goodies. The 'sides' include Shoe peg Corn pudding, Cheddar Jalapeno Biscuits, Black Eyed Peas, among 10 or so options. 4 home made sauces help customize the taste of your order. Enough said; go find out for yourself and enjoy. You can eat there or take it home.
JAM located right at the beginning of Caulkinstown Road, across from the Sharon plaza area, has been open for some time and has a much different fare, no less taste tantalizing! The menu rotates through a variety of salads, soups, sandwiches, and other treats for take-out. If Sweet Pea (soup) with mint sounds enticing, go try it! Sandwich options may include cheddar, horseradish cream hummus, Scottish smoked salmon amongst the lot. Salads are equally varied.
The problem, if one considers it such, with both places, is one of running out of your favorite choice. Calling ahead at JAM is suggested, as is getting on JAM's emailed menu list. Both JAM and WHEN PIGS FLY may close too early for many, but this is mostly due to running out of food, and the need to start production for the next day.

07.15.10 FANS AND LAWNS
The lack of rain made many lawns turn brown. They are not really dead in most cases, despite their appearance.
07.08.10 PRICE CONCESSIONS - MOVING REAL ESTATE
Seller price concessions, if and when 'blessed' with an offer, are helping move most of the sales currently in contract, or recently closed, for homes in this price grouping.
07.01.10 HOT WEATHER COOLING TIPS
With the arrival of hot, sticky weather arriving in our NW corner, cooling tips are in order for those not lucky enough to have air-conditioning, either centrally installed, or from window units.
